TLC's debut effort, "Ooooooohhh On The TLC Tip" is a crazy and potentially risky album for any artist to introduce themselves to the world with. Luckily for them, TLC's risk payed off and the album was a big hit. From the very moment you first play the album you'll know this .

A hip-hop album with major pop crossover appeal, TLC's debut was an instant success. The trio of young women--T-Boz, Chilli, and Left Eye--projected a playful and colorful image, wearing bright, floppy clothes and using prophylactics as fashion accessories (Left Eye used to wear a colored condom as an eye patch, hence the nickname)/5().

For any TLC fan, snatch this up because it belongs in your collection. For people new to TLC, listen to songs like "What about Your Friends" or "Ain't 2 Proud to Beg" and see if you like the more hip-hop flavored sound of this album. I personally think that any fan of hip hop and/or R&B should at least listen to the song samples to give it a try/5().

Editors’ Notes TLC’s debut opens with an unidentified male grousing that the girl group’s baggy clothes aren’t ladylike. The Atlanta trio retorts with “Hat 2 da Back,” an urban-soul single that positions their style not as a denial of femininity, but an assertion.
  8. Dimi says:
TLC's debut album, Ooooooohhh on the TLC Tip, established the trio's image and unorthodox fashion sense, which at this point was based on baggy, brightly colored clothes and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes' trademark condom. Some accused them of borrowing their look from Bell Biv DeVoe, and their female-positive, pro-safe-sex attitudes from Salt-n-Pepa, but TLC has the boundless enthusiasm to make it.
